"Cloud first” has become a mantra for many organisations driven initially by considerations of cost, but in more recent years by a recognition that public cloud can be the foundation of the more agile, innovative business model. The growth in the adoption of serverless architectures, for example, has driven and facilitated the growth of DevOps – and the two have a symbiotic relationship.

Cloud computing seems to have been with us forever and the logic of putting non-core, commoditised applications and workloads into the public cloud has long been understood and acted on by many organisations . The idea of paying for compute as you use it is a compelling proposition and has been for quite some time.

However, many organisations are still at a relatively early stage in how they consume cloud resources. Management, integration and security factors mean the public cloud is not always the proverbial no-brainer that some believe it should be. The pressure for Cloud First is often driven from the top of organisations who often lack the understanding of the day-to-day challenges inherent in this approach.

Cloud strategy and application orchestration in particular can be assisted for smoother running in several ways, for example hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), which can allow organisations to mimic some aspects of the public cloud.

Join us for this web seminar, in which our expert panel will draw out the challenges facing organisations in cloud strategy and application orchestration when bridging data centre and cloud architectures.

Topics include:

- The 'state of the nation' in terms of UK enterprise public cloud use

- Common pain points in provisioning, scaling and managing applications, and how to solve them

- The relative benefits of HCI, and what it can bring to general cloud strategy and application management
