“Not if but when” is a popular buzzphrase in cyber security regarding the nature of breaches and has led to an uptick in detect and respond strategies at the expense of proactive prevention, but what a lot of people seem to be forgetting is that you actually can have both, and one way to get there is adopting decent AI-based security.

This doesn’t mean just bolting ‘smart’ AI or ML-like features onto existing products and relying on marketing to try and prove a difference – true cyber security AI/ML requires a significant investment and data science skills to deliver continuous protection by developing new reasoning and approaches to detect malicious code that is has never seen before.

This way, prevention and detection/response come together, and do not rely on any kind of external data or human interference to make a quick, intelligent judgement.

And in a world of rising ransomware attacks, it is all too easy to generate new variants of malware such that zero day threats are now an every day risk. Bitcoin mining utilities are now sneaking under the door so easily, UK government websites were recently found to have been hosting them for months.

This web seminar will reveal and discuss Computing research around AI and machine learning in the cyber security space for UK enterprise, exploring to what extent organisations are already exposing themselves to threat by resting on their laurels (and legacy solutions).

Our panel of experts will discuss what other sorts of AI-led approaches may prove capable and financially viable in the face of growing threat.

Key discussion points:

- How cyber security is moving from 'prevention' to 'detect and respond', and what this means to the enterprise
- The difference between genuine and 'smart' AI, and how you can tell
- The value judgement between human security skills in your business and the benefits of AI
- The part AI and machine learning can play in planning a future-proofed cyber security estate
