For a short while concerns over public cloud security dipped. That’s because the cloud market matured, understanding of the relative risks increased, and the worst imaginings of the naysayers failed to materialise. During this time public cloud became the default choice for many workloads, even those involving sensitive data.

But now security is becoming a serious consideration again – thanks in no small part to the imminent arrival of the EU General Data Protection Regulation and related legislation coming out of Europe. The fines attached to the new Regulation have certainly focused minds, but the new rules are not the only cause for concern.

Also front of mind are the massive increase in connectivity and complexity associated with the internet of things. As we know, complexity has a nasty habit of increasing vulnerability. Together with a rise in the number of targeted attacks on multi-tenanted cloud resources, CIOs would be forgiven to reverting to Plan A: keep the data where I can see it.

During this web seminar and in the accompanying white paper, we will be looking at the nuances of cloud security including:

  • The important changes in GDPR and how they affect the cloud
  • What cloud vendors are doing to comply with GDPR
  • Why server-hugging is not the right response to regulatory and security woes
  • Securing the IoT
  • Dealing with cloud complexity
