About this webinar:

The term cloud native refers to the concept of building and running applications in the public, private or hybrid cloud. This approach has been adopted by household names in the tech industry, including Lyft, Airbnb and Monzo. Being cloud native means that organisations can take advantage of the flexibility, efficiency, and scalability offered by this delivery model without the burden of legacy technology, allowing them to innovate at speed.

By taking advantage of the cloud service model, organisations have rewritten the approach to application development and delivery as engineers can build applications at speed and utilise on-demand access to computing power.

But what about organisations that were not born in the cloud? What can they do to catch up with their cloud-native competitors?

While many organisations were already well-aware of the benefits of going cloud native, the COVID-19 pandemic and need to innovate faster and from anywhere it has created has acted as a tipping point, providing a strong use case for building and running applications in the cloud.

This webinar, supported by Computing research will explore what it means to be cloud native: the advantages this approach offers, the technologies that cloud-native organisations are utilising and the innovations that have emerged as a result. It will explore the challenges faced by those at different stages of their cloud journey and their plans for the future. It also asks whether cloud-native tools such as containers and microservices can unlock the same advantages for companies that weren’t born in the cloud.
